Emperor Friedrich 3, gives the concession to the princes of Schwarzburg to wash gold in the Schwarza-valley. So the aristocrats created employment for the people of Sitzendorf. The gold was washed out of the river gravel and the slopes above the river, where is was included since the glacial period. Even in gold-mining the people were engaged. For the last time gold was found in 1800 in the Schwarza near Pacher-bridge.

Inhabitants of Sitzendorf are part of the farmer riots; they join the "Forest Gang" and are marching to Paulinzella, capturing the monastery. From there they moved over Stadtilm to Arnstadt in order to present their demands to the princes. "12 Wirdten (landlords) and 2 Hausgenas (comrades)" are sentenced after the failure of the riot to pay fines to the office of Arnstadt.
